Leveraging Aberdeen Asset Management’s bespoke data on international pensions trends we produced a series of data visualizations.

Marketcolor was trusted with the full Business Architecture set of SWIFT - the global provider of secure financial messaging services. Reinterpreting and presenting this information set as a secure web app was a fantastic challenge that has changed the way SWIFT presents its offering to stakeholders.

In this sponsored collaboration we developed a parallax landing page that not only presented this season's must-wears but also conveys the brand’s essence with a super-cool navigation style that says everything about this unique brand.

Strike the pose

Last year Marketcolor had the opportunity to work with Wired on a six-part advertorial for IBM Watson. Our team created code-driven animations on Watson’s features. Code, specifically SVG, is a lightweight alternative to conventional video and it retains razor sharp image quality and allows for interactive annotations.

Artificial intelligence

Explore real returns in three dimensions. For Newton Investment Management Marketcolor built a chart the user could travel along from a first person perspective. Along the way, the investment team shares anecdotes of how it navigated the credit crunch and how it balanced risk seeking and stabilising assets through a challenging market environment.

Sibos approaches in two months. Marketcolor has been lucky to create content exhibited at the financial super-conference many times. Our first appearance, collaborating with SWIFT, was to create this cute stop-motion production on Compliance Analytics.

For one day only you are the Chancellor. Which taxes do you increase to save the health service? This is the scenario we simulated for a client. Using real Treasury data we crafted a visual experience that abstracted complex budget data in a beautiful and responsive format.

We love quizzes. Marketcolor has created nearly 100 quizzes and gamified surveys for clients. They are the simplest way to take a client’s content from passive into super-active. Here is a recent example, created for Lyxor ETFs.

A question of market forces

Sometimes a project is more about data organisation than just the design. For one client we were asked to create a landing page that would replace a legacy print report. Working with different departments and stakeholders we were able to arrive at a page that accentuated each departments strong points without losing a sense of company-wide consistency.

Camp Alphaville, we miss you. One of Marketcolor’s early interactive commissions was to create a Tinder-like (swipe left, swipe right) polling app asking questions relevant to FT Alphaville and its financial market practitioner audience.

A motion graphic campaign explaining Target2 Securities. Euroclear trusted Marketcolor with its most complex product campaign. We transformed the thorny issue into a breezy three-minute explainer that has been enjoyed by thousands of treasurers.

Marketcolor loves quizzes. There is no simpler way of taking passive content and making it super-active than ramifying it with an interactive quiz. For the World Economic Forum 2016, we interpreted a cache of case studies into financial education as a fun, and measurable quiz.

We were a small part of an international viral moment last year in creating a funky landing page of Balenciaga must-wears - triple layered coats, anyone? Working with Vogue, our team conveyed the brand's vibe with a sleek user interface. We manage the tech and let the double-layered convertible shirts do the talking 👕🔂👕

The Oxford University Press serves over 200 countries. Marketcolor had the opportunity to work with OUP creating content and a fun, interactive tool for users to explore Stories In Brief on their Position Papers to warm up users to downloading a full report. Its like an executive summary, just a bit more inviting. Less pomp, more pop.

Knowledge is key

One client, looking to distinguish themselves from peers using licensed tools, commissioned Marketcolor to create a presentation composer. This tool, built in the front-end and connecting to a back-end data centre, stood to save the organisation hundreds of thousands in licence fees and forged a look-and-feel that was all their own.

We're so, so proud of this work. We created a virtual trading game with nine asset classes, a live serverless leaderboard, tons of Thomson Reuters data and a cool design. It shows all sides of Marketcolor - an understanding of financial markets, code, design and what makes people engage.

Just another day in the life of a fashion model. In a campaign for Balenciaga, hosted on Vogue, Marketcolor created a funky landing page made to look just a little bit like a well-known paparazzi site.

What does the future hold for corporate treasury? Working with the Global Transaction Banking marketing team at Deutsche Bank Marketcolor created a thoughtful web app exploring the treasurer of tomorrow.

We created an interactive tool based on some fantastic research published by Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford. The authors looked at 702 specific jobs and evaluated how susceptible those jobs are to computerisation. You can enter your job title to see how likely it is that the robots could replace you!

Could a robot do your job?

Trivia questions are becoming more and more popular and can be interesting, especially the ones that test your knowledge on difficult topics. In Summer 2018, Marketcolor created a quiz on GDPR, a very boring yet an extremely important subject. Our team designed the app, took the boring out of the subject, and developed it into an exciting game. The cherry on the top was if you answer all questions correctly, your name will pop up on our winner’s board! How’s that for a prize?

Numbers That Count

TimeFlow is an interactive format pioneered by Marketcolor that shows data visualisations not as a static image but moving over time. The style, with overlapping bar charts, was pioneered by Japanese betting shops but has fantastic applications for data in finance and economics.
